CS Long Beach Plays at Utah State
Cal State Long Beach and Utah State, who were shut out in their openers, will meet today in a Big West Conference football game at Logan, Utah.
Long Beach Coach George Allen, trying again for his first college victory since 1956 after a long and storied career in the pros, might get limited duty from two of his best players. All-conference linebacker Pepper Jenkins suffered an elbow bruise in last week’s 59-0 loss to Clemson, and wide receiver Sean Foster injured a knee. Neither injury is as serious as Allen first thought.
Both teams will try to be more productive on the ground. Long Beach was held to minus-16 yards rushing against Clemson, and Utah State ran for only 25 yards in a 19-0 loss to Utah.
