Schwartz Wins Speedway Qualifying Race
Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa won the main event of the United States national speedway motorcycle qualifying event held Friday in front of 4,218 at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.
The race is the final of three held in California to determine the 18 riders who advance to the national championship at the Orange Country Fairgrounds, Oct. 6.
Schwartz was the top point-getter in the three events with 59. Alan Christian of Murrieta was second with 58 points. Mike Faria of Riverside was third with 49 points.
Steve Lucero of Riverside, who won the consolation main event, was fourth with 45 points.
