BOXING AT THE BEACH: The Long Beach City Council will hold a hearing Tuesday on whether to give monthly boxing matches a permanent home at the Hyatt Regency. Patrons, mostly businessmen, have paid up to $50 to see professional bouts staged in the hotel’s ballroom under a conditional use permit.
* SCHOOL ELECTIONS: 107th Street School will hold elections for the Compensatory Education Advisory Council, the Bilingual Council and the School Site Council on Wednesday at 3 p.m. All members of the community are invited to attend.
* FRINGE: The Fourth Annual Fringe of the Fringe Arts Festival starts Saturday in Claremont with a noon mask parade at Memorial Park in which artists create moving, noise-making sculptures. More than 100 events will be held from Pomona to Riverside and points between. The festival runs through Oct. 13.
