List of Candidates for Santa Monica Elections
- Share via
Santa Monica residents who intend to vote Nov. 6 might consider putting in a request now for the day off. It’s going to take some time.
Along with voters everywhere else in California, Santa Monica residents will be choosing a governor, lieutenant governor, controller, treasurer, secretary of state and insurance commissioner, and representatives in Congress, the state Assembly and state Senate. They will decide on 28 statewide ballot measures (Propositions 124 to 151) and three Los Angeles County propositions.
At this point, Santa Monica voters will be about half-finished, because the longest city ballot in recent memory includes the following:
* City Council elections: nine candidates for three seats.
* Rent Control Board elections: six candidates for three full-term seats, and a two-candidate contest to fill two years of an unexpired term.
* Board of Education elections (school district includes Malibu): six candidates for four seats.
* Community college trustee elections: five candidates for four seats.
* Municipal judge runoff election: two candidates for one seat.
* Nine municipal ballot measures: Propositions R through Z.
* One school district bond measure: Proposition ES.
