COL HUNTINGTON BEACH : Restaurant Bandit Flees With $3,000

An armed man escaped with $3,000 cash from the manager’s office of a Carrows restaurant early Monday, injuring the manager of the eatery as he held her at gunpoint, police said.

The manager, identified only as a female, saw a man knocking on the locked rear door of the establishment, which is in the 16900 block of Magnolia Street. She opened the door, thinking the man was a deliveryman, Police Lt. Jeff Cope said.

The robber forced the woman into the manager’s office, where she had been preparing a cash deposit, and demanded that she give him the money, Cope said. Then, when she reached for the cash, the bandit struck her hand with the handgun, Cope said.

The robber grabbed the money and forced the manager to the rear door, where he fled. The gunman is described as a man in his early 30s, about 5 feet, 11 inches in height, with brown hair and a medium build.
