NATION : Census to Add Millions to Total
Census workers are double-checking the 1990 population count of 245,837,681 and expect to add millions of people to the figures, the U.S. Census Bureau director said.
In testimony before a House subcommittee, Barbara Everitt Bryant said numbers being disputed by many local government officials will be revised before the final count goes to President Bush on Dec. 31.
“The census count will increase in practically every jurisdiction throughout the country because of ongoing coverage improvement programs,” Bryant said.
