The Superdome’s general manager said the 70,000-seat New Orleans stadium would bid to become the first indoor site for soccer’s 1994 World Cup.

Bob Johnson said stadium officials probably would bid for either the final, the opening game or a semifinal in addition to first-round matches. Cities will be selected next year by FIFA, soccer’s world governing body.
