‘Winged Figure’ in Laguna: Artist Jim Morphesis’ controversial painting, “Winged Figure,” which was rejected by the John Wayne Museum of Art because airport officials found it unsuitable, will be on display at the Laguna Art Museum. Museum director Charles Desmarais said he is showing it to “lift the gloomy veil” from the painting. The work, which was originally commissioned by the airport, is a nude portrait of the Greek figure Icarus. It will be on display at the museum from Sept. 28 to Dec. 16.
