The Monrovia Historical Society has won a blue ribbon and a silver plate in the annual exhibit contest at the Los Angeles County Fair in Pomona.

The group received honors for its display of a 1918 Model T Ford, society board member Kathie Mueller said. The display’s background is a mural depicting a map of old U.S. Route 66. In the foreground, a mannequin family of three rides in the car through a landscape of sand and tumbleweeds, Mueller said.

This was the third time the group has entered the annual competition among historical societies.
