Aguitarist for a rock band shot and killed the band’s drummer during an early morning dispute in a Van Nuys apartment Wednesday, Los Angeles police said.

Jeffery Logan, 28, died at 7:50 a.m. at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, about five hours after being shot once in the upper body during the dispute in his apartment in the 15900 block of Victory Boulevard, Detective James Vojtecky said.

David Halsey, 28, who also lived in the apartment, was arrested on suspicion of murder and was being held without bail at the Van Nuys jail, Vojtecky said. Detectives said Logan was shot after a loud argument erupted between the two, but the reason for the dispute was not known. The handgun used in the slaying was found in the apartment.

The victim and suspect were members of a band called Kamikazi Saloon, whose members moved to Van Nuys from Easley, S.C., about three months ago, Vojtecky said.

“They just came out here seeking fame and fortune,” he said.
