Jeff Lloyd, 26, is being held in the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of mayhem, battery on a police officer, assault with a deadly weapon, obstructing or resisting arrest and being under the influence of a controlled substance, said Sgt. Ray Nagel of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. Bail has been set at $10,000, he said.

After the concert, played to a sold-out crowd of 850, Kurt Duncan, 23, of Azusa and Lloyd went to the park in the 300 block of Main Street about 11 p.m. to drink, police said.

According to police, Lloyd hit Duncan several times on the head with a whisky bottle.

After a short chase by police, Officer Lynn Klamser was kicked in the side of the head and Officer Charles Watson twisted his knee in a struggle to subdue Lloyd, Sgt. Gary Adkinson of the Ventura Police Department said.

Police stationed an extra five officers in the area throughout the three-hour concert and turned away about 200 people who were listening to the music outside the theater, Adkinson said.
