A former teacher at a Southeast San Diego school was sentenced Tuesday to eight years in state prison for molesting two 12-year-old girls who were his students.

A $1,000 fine to be paid from his prison wages was ordered also against Ernest Booker Brown, 48, of San Diego, by San Diego Superior Court Judge William Mudd.

Brown, who was teaching at Knox Elementary School, pleaded guilty June 13 to committing three lewd acts in 1987 and 1988 with the two girls and in a plea bargain agreement that the counts would be sentenced concurrently, instead of consecutively.

Mudd imposed two eight-year terms also, but ruled they will run concurrently.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Aaron Katz said Brown has expressed no remorse for his crimes while the girls “will look back on their grammar school days with the memory of their 4th- and 5th-grade teacher molesting them.”

The prosecutor said the crimes here closely resemble the 1977 child molestation case filed against Brown in St. Petersburg, Fla., when he was charged with molesting an 8-year-old student while he was a teacher there.
