Pomona : Commuter Stops Sought
Pomona has added its name to a growing list of cities that would like to become rail stops along a proposed commuter line for passenger trains between Los Angeles and San Bernardino.
The City Council voted this week to apply for state funds to remodel the Amtrak station on Garey Avenue, north of Arrow Highway, into a commuter rail station. The city staff estimated the cost of the work at $1.2 million.
Councilwoman Nell Soto said the proposed commuter rail line would have six to eight stops between Los Angeles and San Bernardino. The Los Angeles County Transportation Commission will select the sites from those cities interested in providing stations.
