Police are looking for a man who has robbed three banks since Monday and gotten away with a total of about $15,000 from 18 banks since Aug. 7.

Shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday, the man took $1,200 from the Security Pacific Bank branch at 3091 Clairemont Drive in Clairemont, San Diego Police spokesman Bill Robinson said.

Police say the man always uses the same method to rob the banks: He walks up to a teller, says he has a gun, and hands over a demand note in a passbook-type folder. A weapon has been seen in only one holdup.

On Monday, police believe the same man robbed the Imperial Savings branch at 5125 Waring Road in Allied Gardens of $2,000, and the San Diego Trust branch at 6116 Mission Gorge Road in Grantville of $1,500.

The man is described as Latino, in his late 30s, about 130 to 150 pounds and between 5-foot-3 and 5-foot-10. He has short, thick, black hair and a medium to dark complexion.
