Gang Members Hurt in Shooting

Authorities say two gang members from Carson were wounded Sunday night when rival gang members from Harbor City sprayed a restaurant’s parking lot with gunfire. No one else was injured in the 8:30 shooting in Harbor City.

“It could have turned into a real gun battle,” Los Angeles Police Detective Kim Wierman said.

Wierman said Romeo Anos, 19, and Alexander Jacinto, 20, both identified as gang members, were felled by gunfire as they left the Beef Bowl restaurant at 1111 W. Pacific Coast Highway. The shooting occurred minutes after one of the men had crossed out the name of a Harbor City gang from the men’s room wall at the restaurant, Wierman said.

Anos was hit in the back by one of 10 to 15 bullets fired in the incident. The bullet passed through his chest and lodged in his chin, police said. He was listed in stable condition at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

Jacinto, shot in the right ankle and hip, was treated for his wound at the medical center, Wierman said.

No suspects are in custody.
