COLLEGE FOOTBALL REPORT / WEEKDAY UPDATE : AROUND THE NATION : Michigan State Kicker Sentenced
Michigan State placekicker John Langeloh was sentenced to six months probation and 35 hours of community service after his no contest plea to disorderly conduct.
Langeloh also was ordered to pay a $100 fine and $50 in court costs by Ingham County Circuit Judge Lawrence Glazer.
Langeloh pleaded no contest Aug. 23 to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct. He originally was charged with two felonies, selling alcoholic beverages without a license and operating an illegal liquor establishment.
He and Paul Butland, brother of Spartan punter Josh Butland, were arrested after two undercover police officers attended an Oct. 21, 1989 homecoming party at the pair’s East Lansing home. The officers allegedly were told they had to buy cups for $3 in order to get beer from kegs in the back yard.
Glazer ordered Langeloh to serve his community service by speaking at alcohol treatment or alcohol education programs.
During his career at Michigan State, Langeloh, a senior, has made 48 of 66 field goal tries and 101 of 104 extra points.
