NATION : Jack Anderson Mugging Victim
Syndicated columnist Jack Anderson was hit on the head with a pipe and robbed of about $100 by a mugger in a alley just moments after he left his office, a spokeswoman said today.
Opal Ginn said Anderson, 67, left his office at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday and headed down the alley to get to his car when a man in his 20s approached him, said “Good afternoon, sir,” then hit him on the back of the head. The man then demanded all his money.
“Jack gave him about $100 from his pocket and said the man raised the pipe as if to strike him again when a woman began to scream,” Ginn said. Anderson returned to his office after the attack, and Ginn phoned police.
