Mustang Ranch Won’t Reopen: A bankruptcy trustee’s reign as a Nevada brothel madam ended before it began when U.S. Bankruptcy Judge James Thompson lifted an order that would have allowed her to operate the infamous establishment. Thompson’s actions during a brief hearing opened the way for the Internal Revenue Service to foreclose on the Mustang Ranch, which is 10 miles east of Reno. Bankruptcy trustee Jeri Coppa had sought an order from the judge allowing her to operate the brothel under owner Joe Conforte’s licenses. That proposal was opposed by officials in rural Storey County, where the brothel is located.
