A 33-year-old Dana Point man was arrested Friday at a San Bernardino County home on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, according to sheriff’s officials.

Timothy William Underwood, who was described as a self-employed artist, was arrested about 4:45 a.m. after his blue Honda was traced to a home in Grand Terrace, said Lt. Richard J. Olson of the Sheriff’s Department. Underwood is scheduled to be arraigned Monday, Olson said.

Underwood is suspected of running into Charlotte Ann Englis, 66, of Laguna Beach while she was riding her bicycle about 3:45 p.m. Aug. 31 near the intersection of Del Obispo Street and Windjammer Drive in San Juan Capistrano. According to witnesses, Underwood stopped momentarily to ask the victim if she was hurt and then left the scene, Olson said.

A license plate fell off Underwood’s 1982 Honda during the accident, enabling deputies to trace the vehicle to a Dana Point residence and then to Grand Terrace, Olson said.

Englis suffered a concussion, a broken right ankle and abrasions in the accident, Olson said.

Bail for Underwood was set at $10,000.
