Baylor offensive lineman John Karkoska, who collapsed during football practice on Sept. 13, died Saturday night, university officials said. Karkoska, 19, a redshirt freshman from Houston, died before the start of Baylor’s game with Sam Houston State University.

Karkoska had been hooked to a dialysis machine since Tuesday. Baylor doctors said Karkoska’s heart-related illness was caused by an “underlying condition” such as a virus or infectious disease.
