The NEA’s role was never to have the government be, as Rohrabacher says, “in the business of making art decisions”; its effective role is to be a forum for arts professionals, experts and peers to recommend the celebration, acknowledgement and nurturing of artistic creativity--from the organization to the individual.
Rohrabacher has simply shown me that he is one of those--to put it politely--nearsighted, self-serving politicians who could be considered a detriment to his constituency.
