BUENA PARK : Youths Queried in Weekend Shooting
Police detained several juveniles for questioning in connection with a weekend shooting of a Cypress man, but no arrests have been made, Police Sgt. Terry Branum said.
Although police say gang members were present at the shooting, they do not believe the attack was gang-related. “There were some overtones of gang involvement, but it was not one gang out looking for another,” Branum said.
The party, on the 6000 block of Flamingo Drive, erupted into violence when 18-year-old Gabriel Orozco, a former member of the LADS gang, began to argue with a member of the Eastside gang, police said. About 75 youths attended the gathering.
Orozco was shot three times, twice in the torso and once in the elbow.
