Jockey Jorge Velasquez, who was enshrined in racing’s Hall of Fame this year, will come to Southern California for the Oak Tree meeting at Santa Anita Park beginning Oct. 3.
“If it goes well, I plan to stay through the Santa Anita winter meeting,” said Velasquez, who currently is based at Arlington in suburban Chicago. “It’s too cold to go to New York. I can’t take that anymore.”
He ranks fourth in all-time career victories, with more than 6,300, and fifth in earnings.
