Good news for USC fans:
--The last time USC was shut out before last week, a 24-0 loss to Arizona State in 1985, the Trojans came back the next week to rout Oregon State, 63-0. The 87-point turnaround was the biggest in Trojan history.
--Larry Smith is 3-0 against Ohio State Coach John Cooper.
Before Smith and USC beat Cooper and Ohio State last season, 42-3, Smith and Arizona twice beat Cooper and Arizona State. The Wildcats knocked Arizona State out of a Rose Bowl bid with a 16-13 victory in 1985 and won again the next year, 34-17, handing the Sun Devils their only loss of a 10-1-1 season that included a 22-15 victory over Michigan in the Rose Bowl.
