A 2-year-old San Diego boy who was kidnaped was found unharmed about 18 hours later, police said Thursday.
Three masked men with guns entered the house of Martin Amador and his wife in the 4000 block of Broadway at 2 a.m. Wednesday, held the Amadors at gunpoint, kidnaped their son, Martin Jr., and left a demand note, Lt. Jerry Moody said.
At 8:30 p.m. the boy was found wandering in an alley near the 3700 block of Hemlock Street, Moody said.
Residents in the area “thought it was strange” that a toddler would be alone at night in the alley and immediately called police, Moody added.
The boy was not hurt and was reunited with his parents.
Gustavo M. Madrid, 24, of the 3800 block of Birch Street was arrested at the U.S. point of entry checkpoint at San Ysidro at 6:25 p.m. as he tried to cross into Mexico.
He was booked in the San Diego County Jail on charges of kidnaping, assault with a deadly weapon and child endangerment, Moody said.
