CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : OROVILLE : ‘Mother of the Year’ Gets 30 Days in Jail

Oroville’s “Mother of the Year” was sentenced to 30 days in jail after pleading no contest to a drug charge. Michelle Hendrix, 42, had been arrested last spring on charges including possession of methamphetamine for sale. She pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of possession of methamphetamine and the felony charges originally filed against her were dropped. A local business group had selected Hendrix “Mother of the Year” last May after her grade-school daughter wrote a letter on “why my mom is the best.”
