THE SIDELINES : Connelly Injured in Jerez Crash

JEREZ, Spain —
Martin Donnelly of Britain suffered a broken left leg and a concussion today in an accident during qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix.
But Donnelly’s life is not in danger, said James Penrose, a spokesman for his Lotus team. “He is conscious and talking.”
Penrose received the report from one of the medical personnel outside the track hospital on the Jerez circuit. Penrose said Donnelly would be transported to a hospital in Seville, about 125 miles away.
