Utilities Set Up Program to Save Water, Energy
Southern California’s four largest utility companies on Tuesday formed a joint conservation program to install water and energy-saving devices in households across the Los Angeles basin.
The Southern California Water-Energy Conservation Partnership will work to extend existing conservation programs and determine new ways to save resources. Officials from the Metropolitan Water District, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Southern California Edison and Southern California Gas Co. said they will soon distribute to about 32,000 Southland homes new toilet tank flappers to reduce water use.
Other projects being considered include combined conservation awareness campaigns and sponsorship of joint exhibits at trade shows and county fairs.
