The officers saw three young men robbing a fourth man, and the suspects scattered and ran in different directions when they saw the police car, Rueda said.

One of the suspects ran to a car and sped north on the Hollywood Freeway with the patrol car in pursuit. The vehicle left the freeway at Vineland Avenue, and the driver turned the vehicle’s headlights off, police reported.

At Bluffside Drive, the car went out of control and struck the fire hydrant and light pole and came to a stop.

Hong was treated at the scene by paramedics and was being held at the Northeast Station. Police were still looking for the two other suspects. The name of the robbery victim was not released.
