25 State Churches Rank High in Attendance Survey
California has 25 of the top 100 Protestant churches in the country, ranked by average Sunday attendance, according to a new survey by John N. Vaughan, International Mega-Church Research Center, Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, Mo. Here is how they rank in the state:
1. Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa: 12,000.
2. Grace Community Church, Sun Valley: 8,000.
3. Harvest Christian Fellowship, Riverside: 7,700.
4. Calvary Chapel, Downey: 7,500.
5. Calvary Church, Santa Ana: 6,000.
Capital Christian Center, Sacramento: 6,000.
Crenshaw Christian Center, Los Angeles: 6,000.
First Evangelical Free Church, Fullerton: 6,000.
9. Crystal Cathedral, Garden Grove: 5,438.
10. Church on the Way, Van Nuys: 5,347.
11. Horizon Christian Fellowship, San Diego: 5,150.
12. Calvary Chapel, West Covina: 5,000.
13. Melodyland Christian Center, Anaheim: 5,000.
14. West Angeles Church of God, Los Angeles: 5,000.
15. Vineyard Fellowship, Anaheim: 4,943.
16. Young Nak Presbyterian Church, Los Angeles: 4,861.
17. South Coast Community Church, Irvine: 4,600.
18. People’s Church, Fresno: 4,200.
19. Saddleback Valley Community, Mission Viejo: 4,000.
