Hearing on Landfill Site Report Scheduled
Sanitation officials will hold a hearing Oct. 30 on an environmental impact report that declared four mountain canyons above the Santa Clarita and San Fernando valleys suitable sites for landfills.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at Kennedy High School, 11254 Gothic Ave., Granada Hills.
The hearing will be a follow-up to a Tuesday night forum at which nearly 200 people cheered and applauded speakers who criticized plans to locate trash dumps in Towsley, Blind, Elsmere and Mission-Rustic-Sullivan canyons.
Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County officials arranged the Oct. 30 hearing because there was not enough time to hear testimony from about 80 people who wanted to speak Tuesday night.
