MOORPARK : Candidate Forum to Be Held Oct. 29

Share

A public forum for Moorpark election candidates will be held Monday, Oct. 29.

Residents will choose from three candidates for mayor and two for a seat on the City Council in the Nov. 6 election.

The forum will offer the public a chance to question candidates for mayor, who will be elected for the first time. Until now, City Council members took turns filling the position.

The three mayoral candidates are Tom Wheeler, who was parks commissioner in 1988, and councilmen Clint Harper and Paul Lawrason. City Planning Commissioner John Wozniak is running against incumbent Eloise Brown for the open seat on the five-member City Council.

The five panelists will deliver prepared statements and answer audience questions. City growth will be the biggest issue in the forum, predicted Debi Ryono, publisher of the Moorpark News-Mirror, which is sponsoring the event. In 1980, Moorpark’s population was 4,000; it is now about 26,000 residents.

The forum will be at 7 p.m. at the Moorpark Community Center, 799 Moorpark Ave.
