Reds Get Hearty Welcome Back Home
Hundreds of screaming fans met the Cincinnati Reds’ chartered jet Sunday night as the World Series champions returned from a four-game sweep of the Oakland Athletics.
The crowd of at least 500 cheered as the doors opened after the plane’s arrival at Greater Cincinnati International Airport.
“It’s stirring. It’s just overwhelming for all these people to be out here at this hour of the night,” Reds owner Marge Schott said after emerging from the plane to cheers of “Marge! Marge! Marge!” and “Sweep! Sweep! Sweep!”
A downtown parade is planned today.
