Sports Grants Awarded by 1984 Olympics Fund
The foundation that distributes 1984 Olympic surplus funds to Southern California youth sports projects announced in Los Angeles another $373,160 in grants, bringing to more than $18 million the grants made in the last five years.
The largest of the 20 new Amateur Athletic Foundation grants--$64,800--went to the Phoenix Houses of California for a sports program for youths 13 to 18 enrolled in drug rehabilitation. A $50,200 grant went to the Crittenton Center in Los Angeles to establish a sports program for women in their teens who have been placed in the center.
