An 11-year-old boy walking his bicycle in a crosswalk was struck and killed Wednesday by a motorist who apparently failed to stop for a traffic light, Westminster police said.

The boy, who was identified by the coroner’s office as Tamim Naim of Westminster, was struck by a car driven by Chi Xuong Tran, 37, of Anaheim while crossing Magnolia Street at McFadden Avenue, said Police Lt. Andrew Hall.

Witnesses told officers that Tran entered the intersection as the traffic light turned red, Hall said. Tran’s car went through the intersection, struck a van, veered off and ran over the boy, Hall said.
