Persuade Edison to Leave Redondo

We in Redondo Beach have an unsafe, noisy pollution problem. Its name is Edison. This problem can be simply eliminated. Create a group of concerned, intelligent, reasonable citizens; including council members and city staff to examine all the information available--for example, the pertinent laws and studies--and then find an equitable way to persuade Edison to leave our city. At the very least this smoke and particulate fouling eyesore does not belong here.

The obvious solution is to by the above means go our separate ways. Edison does not presently need this Redondo Beach location (and has been saying so for four years). Our city cannot pretend any longer that this problem will go away if they wish it so. Edison operates many other power plants that could supply Redondo Beach with more than sufficient power. Other Los Angeles County power generating companies have electrical power available.

I challenge the leaders of this city to start now with this process while they continue to subject Edison to stringent examination and stern control. Let us civilize and relocate this ill-mannered giant. There is a time for clear vision and action--the time is now.
