From Times Wire Services

Three men suspected of robbing elderly people were arrested early today after one of them dragged a woman from her bus stop and tried to take her purse.

About 4:45 a.m. today, a man who begged for change suddenly snatched the purse of Ruth Greenberg, 62, of Los Angeles, but she refused to let go, Sgt. Pat Findley said.

The man dragged her about 40 feet south on La Brea Avenue from Fountain Avenue and the bus stop where she had been sitting. He finally forced her to the ground and ran away with her pocketbook, and she called police.

A short time later, a police officer saw three men in a car dividing the loot from the woman’s purse and eating her lunch, and they were caught after a brief car chase, Findley said.

Marvin Cardenas, 22, Felipe Delgado, 20, and a 17-year-old boy were booked on suspicion of robbing the woman. All are suspected gang members, Findley said.
