Lloyd Daniels Signs With CBA Team
Lloyd Daniels, the New York high school basketball player whose recruiting prompted an NCAA investigation of Nevada Las Vegas, has signed to play with the Albany Patroons of the Continental Basketball Assn., the team said Thursday.
The 6-foot-8 Daniels signed an unguaranteed pact with Albany and was added to the team’s 20-man preseason roster, said Patroon spokesman Mark Kestecher. Daniels will earn about $520 a week if he makes the team.
Although his abilities have never been questioned, Daniels’ off-court problems have prevented him from achieving the kind of success once predicted.
He was arrested in a Las Vegas crack house before ever playing a game for UNLV, and the NCAA is expected to soon release its findings of alleged irregularities in his recruitment there.
