The Gulls took over sole possession of second place in the International Hockey League’s Western Division with a 7-4 victory Friday night over Salt Lake in front of 3,995 at the Salt Palace.

It is the first time this season the Gulls have won consecutive games--they defeated Phoenix Thursday in San Diego--and they have won their last three out of four games.

With 1:46 left in the third period, Clark Donatelli scored his second goal of the night, to break a 4-4 tie. It was his third goal of the season.
