Oklahoma State entered its game against Missouri ranked last in the Big Eight Conference in scoring and total offense.

But with running back Gerald Hudson leading the way, the Cowboys looked like a powerhouse Saturday in their 48-28 victory over Missouri at Stillwater, Okla.

Hudson rushed for a career-high 255 yards in 34 carries and scored three touchdowns as the Cowboys, 3-5 overall and 1-3 in the Big Eight, compiled 521 yards in their biggest scoring show since a 62-14 victory over Wyoming in the 1988 Holiday Bowl.

Michael Jones rushed for 130 yards and scored two touchdowns for Missouri, 3-5 overall and 1-3 in the Big Eight.

Hudson scored on a two-yard run with 6:24 left and the two-point conversion made the score 41-28. Hudson added a 58-yard touchdown run with 1:49 left to put the game out of reach and give him 1,109 yards for the season.

Missouri quarterback Kent Kiefer completed 25 of 42 passes for 255 yards and was intercepted three times. Two of the interceptions led to touchdowns.

But Kiefer also made several clutch passes, including a 14-yarder to Linzy Collins on a fourth-and-12 play that kept a touchdown drive alive in the fourth quarter.

Hudson, whose 34 carries were a career high, had a 68-yard run that put the ball at the Missouri 12-yard line in the third quarter. It came one play after the Tigers had pulled within 27-21 with a touchdown, and it set up Cecil Wilson’s 12-yard touchdown that helped keep Missouri at arm’s length.

Kiefer and Missouri answered with the 17-play, 80-yard drive in which he converted the fourth-down pass. That made the score 33-28 and set up Hudson’s late heroics.

Both offenses had plenty of success. Missouri compiled 453 yards and had four 80-yard touchdown drives. Oklahoma State had two 80-yard scoring drives.

Kansas 27, Kansas State 24--Chip Hilleary completed 13 of 20 passes for a career-high 221 yards and also rushed for a team-high 102 yards to lead the Jayhawks over the Wildcats in a Big Eight game at Lawrence, Kan.

Kansas State, 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the Big Eight, had rallied for two fourth-quarter touchdowns when Hilleary broke a 40-yard run on third and three at the Kansas 32.

The Wildcats had no time outs left and could only watch as Kansas (2-5-1, 1-2-1) ran out the remaining four minutes.

Dan Eichloff kicked a school record 58-yard field goal for the Jayhawks.
