Runners will zip 6.2 miles down the beachfront Saturday morning in a new point-to-point race to benefit the Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy.

The Huntington Beach Shoreline Classic 10-Kilometer Race will start at Peter’s Landing--at 24th Street and Pacific Coast Highway--and go south to the finish line at the Huntington Beach pier. There will also be a 5-kilometer run and 1 1/2-mile “fun walk.”

Participants can register at Peter’s Landing on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 6 to 7:30 a.m. The registration fee is $15 for both the 10-K and 5-K races, and the fee is $8 for the fun walk. Participants get a T-shirt.

Race officials said entrants can park in downtown Huntington Beach, near the pier, and take a free shuttle bus to Peter’s Landing on Saturday morning, or park at Peter’s Landing and take a shuttle bus back from the pier after the race. The Shoreline Classic is a point-to-point race that ends at a different place than the start.
