PLAYS FOR KIDS: Robert Redford has selected longtime South Coast Repertory staffer Jerry Patch to take charge of a new national children’s theater program based at the Sundance Institute in Utah. . . . Patch will remain at SCR as a literary adviser but will help the institute recruit major writers for children’s projects. “The tradition in Europe is that the best writers also write for children,” Patch says. “The level of that literature is very high.”
