Marge Schott, owner of the Cincinnati Reds, and outfielder Eric Davis, who complained publicly that Schott had ignored him after his World Series injury in Oakland, emerged from a private meeting to say that they have begun settling the dispute.
Davis, 28, was hospitalized in Oakland’s Merritt Peralta Medical Center after he injured a kidney diving for a ball in Game 4 of the World Series. “I don’t want anything like this to happen again,” Schott said, breaking into tears and hugging Davis.
