Disneyland Prices No Cause for Joy

Share

During your next visit to Disneyland, if you notice a sad, troubled-looking spirit mournfully walking the grounds, be aware it is not an Animatronic figure from the Haunted Mansion run amok. No, it’s just the ghost of Walt Disney bemoaning yet another increase in the price of tickets at the Magic Kingdom.

Now that it costs $27.50 each for my wife and I and $22.50 for each of my children, I’ll be thinking about taking a loan the next time we plan to visit the park.

I’ll be honest with everybody: I can’t figure out this latest move by Disney management. Maybe they are trying to scare away people with families so the park can be free of those noisy, troublesome pests called kids.

It makes you wonder if they should stop building more attractions. At this rate, by the time they add a few more rides and then pass on the cost to the guests, about the only person who’ll be able to afford to go to the park is Disney’s president, Michael Eisner.

Poor old Walt! Watching the dream he built as the Happiest Place on Earth become the Most Expensive Place on Earth has got to have him turning in his grave like a piece of wood on a lathe. I’ll bet he’s doing cartwheels.

The sad truth is that even if attendence at the park took a steep dive because of the increased ticket prices, I doubt the management at Disney would get the point.

If they’re not careful, the next attraction they’ll be opening will be the Haunted Parking Lot.
