Killing Birds
In response to “Birds Killed to Bolster Suit Against Exxon” (Part A, Oct. 20):
For government officials to secretly (or otherwise) slaughter animals that survived the 1989 Alaskan oil spill in an attempt to gather more evidence against Exxon oil is beyond ludicrous and should be a crime in itself.
Are not the 36,471 birds already obtained for evidence sufficient? Not according to lawyers who are building their case against Exxon. They claim the new evidence will strengthen their case and lead to more compensation for damages. Yeah, right. It’s more like a lame excuse to justify their actions so they can milk as much money as possible for themselves. What’s next? A plea of not guilty from Exxon?
