SPBA’s San Bernardino Pride to Play CSUN in Exhibition

Cal State Northridge will face the San Bernardino Pride of the Senior Professional Baseball Assn. in an exhibition game at 1 p.m. Sunday at Fiscalini Field in San Bernardino.

Mike Norris, 35, a 22-game winner for the Oakland Athletics in 1980 before drug problems interrupted his career, is scheduled to start for the Pride, an expansion team in the 2-year-old league for players 34 years old and over, catchers 32 and over.

The roster also includes former Dodgers Derrel Thomas, Rudy Law and Ron Roenicke. Former USC and San Fernando High football-baseball star Anthony Davis and Thousand Oaks resident Chuck Fick also play for the Pride.

Candice Schlom of Calabasas has been selected to the U. S. equestrian team that is participating in the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto from Nov. 6-18.

Schlom, 20, is riding for the U. S. team for the first time and is the youngest woman on the team.

Manny Mota, a Los Angeles Dodger coach, will take part in a youth baseball clinic today from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of the San Fernando Valley, 11251 Glenoaks Blvd., Pacoima.
