Another questionable call?

Against Green Bay on Sunday, the Raiders attempted a 15-yard pass on third and one at their 29 in the second quarter. That fell incomplete.

It their previous game, the Raiders decided to pass three times at the Kansas City 49-yard line in the fourth quarter, trailing by two points. All three passes fell incomplete.

Why not run? Raider Coach Art Shell said there was a mixup on the play.

“We thought it was a first down,” Shell said. “One of the officials marked it and pointed first down. We realized they didn’t give us the first down, but Jay (Schroeder) was already out of the huddle, we already had the play called.

Why not call a timeout or an audible?

“It still was a good play,” Shell said. “We just didn’t make it. That’s a third-down play. Sometimes people on third and one will go for it.”
