Suspect in Fires at Preschool Released

Sean Rast, 23, a suspect in two fires at a Clairemont preschool, was released Thursday from County Jail because of lack of evidence, authorities said.
Rast is the father of two children who attended the preschool and day-care center that was twice torched within the span of a few days.
“The investigation is continuing by the Metro Arson Strike Team,” said district attorney’s spokeswoman Linda Miller, who said that Rast remains a suspect.
Last Friday, a fire scorched the interior of the Wee Care Preschool on Mt. Acadia Boulevard, but parents, teachers and volunteers worked to reopen the facility in an adjacent building this week.
A second arson fire charred the day-care center Tuesday morning, hours before class was to have started.
