Don’t Forget the Human Species

Share

I was saddened to read Oct. 28 in your newspaper that $100,000 has been allocated to restore the Ventura River bottom. Don’t get me wrong. I am not against restoring our city and re-establishing the environment for other species. But what about the human species who live there? The Times estimated their number to be about 250.

We cannot forget that these people do exist. They may not fit into society’s rules, but they are here. I believe that these fellow humans should be considered above all else. They need our intervention as much as any other species, even more. We must be morally accountable for them.
