Receiver Makes Most of Catches as St. Paul Beats Orange

St. Paul wide receiver Mickey Foster caught two passes, both for touchdowns, to lead the Swordsmen to a 21-8 victory over Orange in the first round of the Division III football playoffs Friday night.

St. Paul (6-3-2) will meet Beverly Hills next weekend in the second round.

Foster’s second catch, for a five-yard touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter, gave St. Paul a commanding a 21-0 lead minutes after Orange wide receiver Mark Lightfoot dropped a potential touchdown pass on a fourth-down play from the St. Paul 15.

St. Paul took over, and quarterback Albert Borunda connected with wide receiver Ricky O’Campo on a 62-yard pass to set up the final touchdown. Borunda was four for seven for 122 yards and the two touchdowns.

Defensive end Richard Gonzales led the St. Paul defense with three sacks of Orange’s Josh Beloysky. The Panthers (5-5-1) managed just 156 yards in offense, half on their final drive to a touchdown with three minutes remaining. Acen Chiles, who led Orange with 56 yards rushing, scored from five yards out.

Foster also caught a 52-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring in the first quarter.
